Elastic cotton is a fabric blend. It combines cotton with stretch fibers like spandex or elastane. This gives you the softness of cotton with the give of stretch material. Most of our elastic cotton items contain 95 to 98 percent cotton with a small percentage of elastane.

Does cotton have elasticity?

Pure cotton has very little natural stretch. That is why brands add elastic fibers to create stretch cotton. The result is a fabric that moves with your body and holds its shape. Our elastic cotton items offer 10 to 20 percent stretch depending on the weave.

What fabric is elastic?

Many fabrics can be elastic. Knit fabrics like jersey and interlock have natural give. Woven fabrics need spandex or elastane added for stretch. Elastic cotton combines cotton with these synthetic fibers for a flexible, breathable fabric.

Do stretch cotton garments shrink?
